This 1982-2002 Camaro/Firebird automatic transmission shifter knob adapter allows you to use a manual transmission style shifter knob in place of your factory automatic transmission shifter knob. This works with most M16 x 1.5mm thread pattern knobs which is the factory manual transmission thread size (excluding SLP & Hurst "H" leather wrapped shift knobs). Simply push down on top of the knob to shift. Product comes as shown in pictures. No Shift Knob included. Product is made from billet aluminum and is anodized black for a clean finish. Simple installation! Remove factory automatic knob. You will need to remove the factory "c" retainer clip that is in front of the knob. A pair of needle nose pliers will be needed to remove. Take the CBW-038 and place it over the shifter assembly, lining the set screws up with the slot in the factory shifter stick. Tighten the set screws on each side to just taut. You can slide it back up and tighten and snug a little better if you remove the white push stem. Some shifter stems do not come out depending on application, but this is not a necessity. The adapter and stem should push down just like the factory set up. Now just add your choice of manual shifter knob. It’s easy as that. NOTE the set screws also help keep the knob & adapter from turning when driving. However it does not prevent it from pulling up, but there should be no need to pull up on your automatic shifter knob.
