Side-Hung Floats
Side-Hung Carburetor Float
  • Fits Model 4150, 4160 Secondary and 2300 Carburetors
  • Replaces Holley 16R260-4A and Ford C1AE-9550-C
  • 15.5 Gram Nitrophyl Float
  • Sold Individually

The Holley 216-9 is a side-hung replacement float for Model 4150, 4160 (secondary), and 2300 carburetors, and serves as a direct replacement for Holley 16R260-4A and Ford C1AE-9550-C floats. Molded from Nitrophyl at 15.5 grams, it resists the fuel absorption that causes an aging float to sink and flood the carburetor, restoring a stable fuel level. It fits a wide range of vintage OE Holley two- and four-barrel applications.

    Holley 216-9 Compatibility Notes:

    • Side-hung float for Model 4150, 4160 (secondary), and 2300 carburetors
    • Nitrophyl construction, 15.5 grams
    • Replaces Holley 16R260-4A and Ford C1AE-9550-C
    • Resists fuel absorption and fuel-level drift
    • Sold individually
    • Holley floats are designed for Holley 2-bbl and 4-bbl performance carburetors. The floats are named after their attachment point in the float bowl and are available in a center-hung design or side-hung design. The materiel they are constructed of can be either brass or nitrophyl (plastic polymer) depending on the fuel type that is to be used.

A center-hung float has its float arm attached to the float center and is hung/pivots from the center of the float bowl. Center-hung floats are also available with notches for jet extensions to pick-up fuel during extreme g-forces. The notched floats are available in nitrophyl only and can be purchased with or without the jet extensions. Special wedge shaped floats are also available for circle track applications in the center-hung style.

A side-hung float has its float arm attached at one side and is hung/pivots from the side of the float bowl. Side-hung floats are the only style to feature a non-adjustable version as all other floats are adjustable.

The floats constructed of brass are designed for use with alcohol or methanol fuels. The nitrophyl floats are the most common as they are used with gasoline in naturally aspirated and blow-through forced induction systems. A draw-through forced induction system can use either construction depending on the fuel used.
