The GM HEI (High Energy Ignition) distributor is a self-contained, high-performance ignition system developed by General Motors in the mid-1970s. Known for its reliability, high voltage output, and simplified design, the HEI integrates the ignition coil directly into the distributor cap, reducing wiring complexity and eliminating the need for an external coil or external module. It delivers a stronger and more consistent spark across the RPM range.
