Rated at 12,000 lb of single-line pull, it runs a 6 HP permanent magnet 12-volt motor through a 3-stage planetary gearbox at 265:1, uses a sliding ring gear clutch for free-spooling, and stops the drum with an automatic brake built inside the drum itself rather than relying on gear drag. Recovery loads on a full-size rig climb fast once larger tires, steel bumpers, armor and gear are added, and the 3/8 in. x 85 ft. synthetic rope gives the working length to reach a distant anchor while staying safer to handle than wire cable of the same strength.
