The line pressure sensor tells the controller what the hydraulic circuit is actually doing, and the controller trims pressure and shift timing from that signal. When the sensor drifts or fails, the symptoms look mechanical, harsh or slipping shifts, limp in, or pressure related trouble codes, even though the transmission itself may be fine. Replacing the transducer is a far cheaper first step than a teardown.
