The PCV valve pulls blow-by gas out of the crankcase and feeds it back into the intake, metering the flow against manifold vacuum so the engine does not pull too much air at idle. When the valve sticks the crankcase pressurizes, and that is what pushes oil past the valve cover gaskets and the rear main seal. It is one of the cheapest parts on a Magnum V8 and one of the most commonly overlooked.
