Push pins are the fasteners nobody thinks about until a splash shield is dragging or a trim panel is rattling. They are designed to be sacrificial, so the plastic barbs give up before the panel does, and replacing them with the correct original size matters more than it sounds. Using an undersized pin leaves the panel loose, and an oversized one splits the mounting hole.
