On four wheel drive Ram trucks the front axle disconnect is operated by engine vacuum, and this harness carries that vacuum from the supply lines to the axle actuator. Age, heat and oil saturation make the original lines swell and split, which is a common cause of four wheel drive that engages late or not at all. Replacing the harness restores clean vacuum signal to the front axle disconnect.
