On these trucks the accelerator cable works through a bellcrank that also carries the accelerator pedal position sensor feeding the throttle and cruise control circuits. The APPS is serviced together with the bellcrank rather than separately, so the assembly goes in as a unit. A worn bellcrank or a drifting sensor shows up as surging, a dead spot off idle, or cruise control that will not hold.
