This assembly does two jobs in one core. The condenser side sheds heat from the air conditioning refrigerant so it can turn back into a liquid, and the integrated cooler on the same core drops the temperature of the transmission fluid. Because both circuits share one unit, a stone strike or a corroded tube can take out the air conditioning and the transmission cooling at the same time, and the whole assembly is replaced together.
