This is the bulb holder for the P21W daytime running lamp, the single filament socket in the headlamp housing. Sockets fail from heat cycling rather than age: the contacts discolor, resistance climbs, and eventually the bulb sits loose or flickers, which reads like a bulb that keeps burning out. Note that only the single filament socket is serviced separately.
