A valve cover only leaks where the flange lifts, and it lifts between the bolts. A longer clamp spans more of that gap, so the gasket stays under even pressure across the rail rather than being nipped at four points and left loose everywhere else.

- These chrome plated steel valve cover clamps help distribute bolt pressure more evenly for better sealing. The longer, competition style clamps are ideal for use on valve covers using only 4 hold-down bolts, while the smaller style clamps are ideal for use on covers utilizing more than 4 hold-down bolts. Both styles will only accommodate up to a 1/4'' dia. hold-down bolt.
