Crank Trigger Distributor for 1962-2001 Ford 289 and 302 Engines [Black]
In a crank trigger ignition the distributor no longer sets the timing, it only routes high voltage to the correct cylinder. That lets the whole assembly be much shorter, and this one carries only a rotor under the cap so it clears crowded intake and blower setups on a small block Ford. It ships with a bronze gear for race camshafts.
MSD 83795 Crank Trigger Distributor Features:
- Fits Ford 289 and 302 engines.
- Must be used with a crank trigger and an ignition control.
- Low-profile cap assembly with a large diameter cap to prevent spark scatter in high cylinder pressure engines.
- Bronze gear supplied for race camshaft applications.
- Polished QPQ coated steel shaft guided by a sealed ball bearing.
- Black housing.
Emissions Note:
This part is only legal for sale and use on Uncontrolled (Non-Emissions Controlled) Vehicles or on vehicles used solely for the purposes of closed competition racing.

Distributors Geared for Racing
MSD Ignition Crank Trigger distributors are designed for racing engines that use a crankshaft triggered ignition. A low profile lets these distributors fit in tight quarters and still accurately deliver the sparks. Each crank trigger distributor contains a CNC-machined billet aluminum housing and inside the housing, a sealed ball bearing and long sintered bushing, guide a QPQ-coated shaft for accurate spark delivery throughout high rpm. A low profile distributor cap with brass terminals clamps onto the housing and covers the racing rotor. The rotor contains deep vanes to stir up the air; reducing the chance of spark scatter. Since these distributors are for racing applications, bronze gears are supplied. Must be used with an MSD Crank Trigger and MSD 6, 7 or 8-Series Ignition Control
