New relacement heat shield fits 1968-76 Buick Skylark, GS 400, GS 455 equipped with the 400ci/455ci engines. The shield is made of stamped steel and is mounted to the driver side exhaust manifold. The shield is a replacement for the original which is very commonly rusted out or missing and provides a heat barrier to keep sensitive engine parts safe from the heat that the exhaust manifold emits. On 1971 and up models a notch will need to be cut to clear the tab. This collector is based on the early design before General Motors redesigned the part. Replaces GM part# 1233450.
