The Ford Powerstroke engine utilizes a unique fuelinjection system called Hydraulic Electronic UnitInjection (HEUI). Absent from a normal fuel injectionsystem are a mechanical injection pump and injectionlines. The components which replace the traditionalmechanical injection pump include a highpressure oil pump and reservoir, pressure regulatorfor the oil and passages in the cylinder head forflow of fuel to the injectors. The system dependsupon high pressure oil to intensify the fuel injectionpressure. The Striker Ignition Pressure Regulatorincreases fuel injection pressure by modifying thefactory signal to increase the oil PSI through thehydraulic amplifier circuit.
