A conventional spring runs out of travel before the shock does, and the extra coils needed to get there add unsprung weight the suspension has to move. High tensile chrome silicon wire lets this spring do the same job with fewer coils and a smaller wire diameter, which opens up the space between coils and takes weight off the corner.
