Sonnax now offers two solutions for excessive endplay in your GM 400/4L80-E units. The Sonnax rear unit endplay shim 34006-05 can be stacked under the four tab metal thrust washer on the rear of the output shaft flange to set unit endplay in the same manner as the OE selective three-tab spacers. These shims eliminate the need to stock expensive or hard-to-find OE three-tab spacers and are an alternative to the Sonnax shim, 34500-Z. Shimming at this location maintains the stack-up height between the gear train main shaft and sun gear shaft.

Shims allow for setting of rear unit endplay by shimming components at the same location as OE selective spacers
Can also be used between the two carriers to optimize reaction carrier endplay
