Typical Powerglide® figure 8 and tabbed planetary washers are made from soft material that wears easily and will buckle and fail catastrophically. Sonnax offers HD rear tabbed thrust wahsers 8415-HD as well as a complete planetary thrust washer kit 8415BK-HD with steel-backed bimetal washers impregnated with a very wear-resistant PTFE layer to reduce friction and stress from rotating pinion gears. Either option is a substantial upgrade for greater reliability, wear resistance and longer service life of the Powerglide planetary. The figure 8 thrust washers are further strengthened with a wider web between the two ends. These figure 8 washers are for applications with a 1.76 style pinion spacing and fit Sonnax 1.80 and 1.69 carriers.
