Strange S/S axles are designed to meet the demanding bending loads of street use. Strange S/S axles are manufactured by Strange from modified 1550 steel. After extensive research and testing, Strange's R&D department determined that 1550 steel in conjunction with specified percentages of additional elements created the bases for the strongest induction hardened axles available. Each S/S street axle is induction hardened to its optimal hardness with Strange custom-designed tooling. S/S splines are hobbed to the proper involute spline form- before heat treatment. The S/S's giant 1.5635" axle bearing diameter and bearing shoulder radius are precisely machined to accept a special radius ring, which minimizes stress concentrations in the bearing area. Strange provides a billet aluminum brake register to properly locate the center of your disc/drum brake system. Strange Ford 9" 31-spline axles are 38% stronger than stock OEM 28-spline axles and are a perfect upgrade for street performance applications.
