- You should always use an inline safety switch in your air conditioning system, ALWAYS. The pressure switch is a protection switch that's designed to stop your compressor clutch from operating in the event of a rapid increase or decrease in pressure. Doing so saves your compressor from damage. Any pressure level below 30 psi can make the air compressor shut off. This can, in turn, make the A/C system freeze up and cause further damage. Vintage Air has a variety of binary and trinary switches as well as fittings and adapters to retro-fit to virtually any A/C system. Switches are sold individually. Switches are shown on switch port fittings and driers which are both sold separately.
