The steps for installing the Blueprint 383 crate engine will vary, depending on the vehicle and engine package. It is important to follow the included instructions for proper installation. However, in most applications, the first step is assembling all exterior engine components that are easier to install outside of the vehicle. Example parts include the intake manifold, drive belt pulleys, water pump, oil filter, dipstick, thermostat and housing, spark plugs, wires, and motor mounts. Next, the engine is lowered into the chassis and connected to the matching frame mounts. The transmission and drivetrain can then be bolted to the engine, as well as the exhaust system, cooling system, ignition system, fuel system, air filter / intake, plumbing, and any remaining components. Once all work is double-checked and fluids at proper level, the engine can be started. Immediately after starting, the ignition timing and idle speed will need to be adjusted as well as careful monitoring of the vehicle gauges for proper oil pressure and water temperature. Installation is then complete.
