The right tools for the job are how you make any job go faster, more smoothly and more safely, and there’s no substitute for having a good quality hydraulic shop press for jobs like removal and installation of bushings, U-joints, ball bearings, gears, pulleys and other parts and assemblies. There’s no substitute for being able to apply pressure uniformly with a hydraulic press and control the application of force. With your own hydraulic shop press from JEGS Performance, you won’t have to farm those tasks out to a machine shop and you won’t have to struggle your way through them with the wrong tools.
Performance Benefits & Key Features
What kind of job do you have coming up? JEGS Performance has hydraulic presses that range from 6-ton benchtop and A-frame styles, all the way up to industrial 50-ton presses. Larger capacity presses feature the option of manual operation or an air-operated foot pedal. Along with presses, we’ve got other press-related shop accessories like a press brake attachment for precision bends, punches, bearing shields, press plates and support plates. We also stock replacement bottle jacks, springs, pump handles, pressure gauges, hardware kits and pins.
Fitment, Compatibility & Applications
If you ever tried to install bearings, bushings or pulleys with the old “big hammer and a 2x4” method, you know what a struggle it is to get the job done right and how much help a hydraulic press can be. With the right know-how and technique, a hydraulic press can even be used to handle problems like straightening bent control arms and tie rods, straightening bent steel or alloy rims or even bent driveshafts or axles. They’re also a great way to remove gears, pulleys, bushings and bearings from assemblies that are interference fit, with one part slightly larger than the opening it fits into.
A 5-12 ton press is suitable for jobs like these, where a 20 ton press is a standard shop size that’s used for engine, transmission or axle work. 50 ton presses can be used for major frame straightening, severely seized assemblies and components, and heavy duty truck parts. A hydraulic press is an indispensable tool that can take a job that could take all day to complete (with the wrong tools) and get it done in a few minutes time.
