Cylinder Head
One of the most critical components on an internal combustion engine are the cylinder heads. These parts seal the combustion chambers, which forces all energy to be pushed against the pistons and through the rotating assembly to create power. They also facilitate valve opening and closing, dictated by the camshaft and they connect the intake and exhaust manifold/headers to allow incoming air and exiting gases to flow properly. Over time, components such as valves, springs, guides, gaskets wear, leading to failure and requiring cylinder head repair or replacement.
When selecting a pair of cylinder heads, first confirm the year, make, and engine size. Next, choose specifications that match your engine camshaft as well as application. This includes intake port, combustion chamber (affects compression), and valve spring (must match camshaft) size. Other options include degree angle, spark plug angle, and more.
