Starter
In order for your car or truck's engine to run, it needs to be rotated fast enough to begin the combustion process. The component responsible for this is the starter. When the key is turned or button pressed (for push button start applications), a signal is sent to the starter solenoid, which kicks the starter drive gear out to engage the flywheel or flexplate. Battery power is then used to rotate the engine until it begins to run on its own.
Choosing the correct factory replacement truck or car starter requires confirming the year, make, model, engine, and transmission(if more than one type was available) for your vehicle. When building a custom engine, it is important to confirm the correct engine as well as starter mounting bolt pattern flywheel / flexplate tooth count, and bellhousing type (for some applications). For high compression engine applications, a starter needs to be chosen that is powerful enough to turn it over as well.
JEGS offers a large starter selection from the best manufacturers in the automotive aftermarket, like Tuff Stuff, Powermaster, Tilton, CSR, JEGS, and others. Each starter is built with high-quality components and assembly to ensure your engine starts every time.
