1964-68 Mustang
This entry-level PowerHat System produces horsepower gains that range from 30% to 75% based on boost level and the engine's volumetric efficiency. It can be used on many existing OE drive configurations with or without power steering. The system can also be upgraded with optional parts for additional power (suggestions below). The PowerHat Carburetor Bonnet applies diffusion technology for maximum power output. An integrated air management diffuser element minimizes the jetting/tuning issues associated with traditional "carb hats." The design permits a near-360-degree rotation for universal fit, and the 3.2" low-profile height provides ample hood clearance.
Included Components
- NOVI 1200SL Supercharger (3.7" drive)
- Billet aluminum 8-rib supercharger crank pulley with hard anodized finish (6.88" diameter)
- Integrated manual belt tensioner with sealed bearing tensioner pulley and 8-rib belt
- Billet aluminum mounting bracket & hardware with provision for alternator mount
- Supercharger air inlet filter
- Aluminum discharge tube with clamps and silicon sleeves
- Cast aluminum PowerHat Carburetor Bonnet Assembly (3" inlet port)
- Sealing gaskets and necessary mounting hardware for attachment to 4150-type 4-barrel carburetor
Notes
- Maximum Ratings: 775 HP/52,000 RPM/22 psi/1,150 cfm
- 4 to 10 hours to install depending on application
- 1967-68 Mustang may require relocation of the battery
- Power steering and alternator can be retained (Generators must be replaced)
- No CARB EO Numbers apply (California Air Resources Board Executive Order)
- Preset pulley ratio will produce about 6-8 psi at 5500 RPM on a mildly modified 289 engine
- The included discharge tube accommodates many intake manifold heights, but high-rise manifolds may require modification for best fit
Required Components (Not Included)
- Quick Fuel, Demon, or Holley 4150-type 4-bbl carb with mechanical secondaries designed for ''blow-through'' applications (Rejetting may be required; #793-Q-750-BAN recommended for most applications)
- High-volume boost-referenced fuel pump
- Compressor bypass valve for all applications exceeding 5 psi boost (From Paxton: #769-8D204-001, #769-8D103-001, or #769-8D205-003)
- Accessory belts (Varies per application based on accessory configuration and supercharger pulley diameters)
Recommended Components
- Aluminum Bypass Weld-On Flange: #933-8D004-052, #933-8D003-052, or #933-8D005-051
- MSD 6A Ignition Amplifier Box or equivalent
