Superchargers

Supercharger kits force more air into your engine so it can make more power with the right fuel and tune. At JEGS, you can shop complete supercharger systems, centrifugal and roots-type units, and Stage 1, 2, and 3 kits sold with or without a tune. Use the Brand, Engine Make/Size, and Mounting Hardware Included filters to narrow the list to your build.

How Supercharger Kits Add Power

A supercharger adds power by pushing more air into your engine than it can pull in on its own. With more air and a matching increase in fuel, each combustion cycle makes more power. A complete supercharger system packages the compressor with the parts needed for a specific application.

Your actual gain depends on the supercharger type, boost level, supporting parts, and tune, so compare the details on each listing. Some applications also need upgraded fuel injectors, added cooling, or ECU tuning to run correctly. Included hardware varies by kit, so check the Mounting Hardware Included filter before you add one to your cart.

Centrifugal vs. Roots vs. Twin-Screw Superchargers

Each supercharger type moves air differently, which changes when boost arrives and how much heat it makes:

  • A centrifugal supercharger uses a belt-driven impeller, builds boost with RPM, and mounts compactly at the front side of the engine with less heat.
  • A roots supercharger mounts on top of the engine and uses rotors to move air, giving you instant boost but more heat.
  • A twin-screw supercharger compresses air internally, so it's more efficient than a roots design but comes at a higher cost.

Choose centrifugal if you want boost that builds with RPM and less heat. Choose roots if you want instant boost, or twin-screw if you want more efficiency than roots and can accept a higher cost.

On this page, Paxton superchargers include NOVI 2200SL centrifugal complete systems. Vortech supercharger kits add more options across this category. Edelbrock E-Force supercharger kits use Eaton TVS rotor assemblies, a roots-type design that delivers instant boost.

Supercharger Kits by Vehicle Platform

Start your search with your vehicle, since supercharger kits are built for specific engines and model years. This category covers several popular Ford, GM, and Chrysler/Dodge platforms. Use the Engine Make/Size filter to see only the kits that fit.

Confirmed applications on this page include:

  • Mustang supercharger kit options for 2005-2010 4.6L 3V, 2011-2014 GT 5.0L, and 2015-2021 5.0L Coyote engines.
  • Kits for 2015-2020 Mustang GT350 and Bullitt 5.0L and 5.2L engines.
  • F-150 supercharger kit options for 2018-2021 5.0L trucks.
  • Kits for 2016-2021 Camaro ZL1 and Cadillac CTS-V LT4 engines.
  • Kits for 2015-2018 Chrysler and Dodge 6.4L LX and LC cars.

Along with the brands above, you'll find products from Mopar Accessories, Roush Performance, Chevrolet Performance, and Speedmaster. Always confirm the exact year, engine, and model in the listing before you order.

Stage 1, 2, and 3 Kits With or Without a Tune

Pick your stage based on how far you plan to take the build, then decide whether you need the tune included. Edelbrock E-Force kits come in Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 tiers. Edelbrock also offers Pro-Tuner kits in this category.

Many of these kits are sold in two versions, "W/ Tune" and "W/O Tune." A supercharger tune matters because adding boost changes how much air and fuel your engine needs. Some applications require ECU tuning to run the kit at all.

Choose a "W/ Tune" kit if you want the calibration bundled with your hardware. A "W/O Tune" kit makes sense when you already have a tuning plan for your vehicle. Before you buy, compare what each stage includes on the product listing, since parts and requirements vary by tier.

Supporting Parts for a Supercharged Build

Plan your supporting parts before your kit arrives, because some applications need added cooling and upgraded fuel delivery. Matching these parts to your supercharger helps the whole system work together.

A supercharger intercooler cools the air charge after compression. Roots-type units make more heat than centrifugal units, so charge cooling deserves extra attention on top-mounted builds. Paxton offers air-to-air intercooler assemblies, and you can browse more options in intercoolers and heat exchangers.

If you're planning for more cooling capacity, also look at water/methanol injection systems for your build.

Frequently Asked Questions About Supercharger Kits

Can I install a supercharger kit myself?

You can if you're comfortable with engine work, have the right tools, and follow the kit instructions closely. Walk through our step-by-step guide on how to install a supercharger kit before you order. If your kit needs a tune, plan for that step too.

Do supercharger kits need maintenance?

Yes, plan on routine checks. Inspect the drive belt, look for leaks, and follow the service schedule in your kit's instructions, since requirements vary by brand and design. When it's time to reseal, shop turbocharger and supercharger gaskets and seals.

What's the difference between a supercharger and a turbocharger?

A supercharger is belt-driven by your engine, so its boost is tied to engine speed. Our supercharger vs. turbocharger comparison of power, fuel economy, and pros and cons breaks down the tradeoffs. If a turbo fits your build better, browse turbochargers for your engine.

Do I need upgraded fuel injectors?

Some applications do. More air needs more fuel, and certain kits call for larger injectors to keep up. Check the listing and kit instructions for required fuel-system upgrades before you order.

Does a supercharger affect daily drivability?

It changes how your vehicle delivers power. A centrifugal unit builds boost with RPM, so power ramps up as engine speed climbs. A roots-type unit delivers boost instantly, so you'll feel the difference at lower speeds.
