    R1115 - Skyjacker Add-A-Leaf Springs is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Install I have a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4WD. I installed this add-a-leaf kit in order to stiffen up the rear end of my truck for towing, with hopes that I'd have less sag once the trailer was installed. This was a fairly easy install. Granted, I have pneumatic impact tools, so some of the disassembly was quicker than if I hadn't had pneumatic tools, but even without pneumatic tools, I think it still would've been fairly easy. For me, the hardest part about installing this add-a-leaf was that my C-clamps were terrible. Before installing this, make sure your c-clamps are quality, large clamps. Also, save yourself some time, and don't make a trip to the auto store for new u-bolts. Worried that the extra thickness would require longer u-bolts, I went down and bought all new bolts. As it turns out, I had just enough space to add the new leaf and still have extra threads on the u-bolts. Obviously, take that piece of advice with a grain of salt. If you don't have a 2009 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4WD with the Z71 pkg, you may need new bolts. Ideally, the 2007-2013 Silverado 1500s should all have the same length, but they may not.... After finishing, I can definitely tell that the rear end gained about 1" of lift. To me, I hardly noticed. However, I corrected it with a set of adjustable Bilstein 5100 front struts. The front already had a leveling kit installed, but the adjustment on the Bilstein struts allowed me to level the truck without replacing the leveling block with a thicker one, and I got to replace my struts at the same time. I also replaced the rear shocks with Bilstein 5100s as well. They had no problem accommodating the additional lift height. I haven't had a chance to tow with it yet, but just standing on the rear bumper and jumping up an down, the rear end is definitely less squishy/stiffer.
