Aluminum 9'' Center Sections
9'' Aluminum Case
For applications where weight is crucial and gear set life is not an issue, Strange offers the lightweight high-tensile aluminum alloy Ford 9'' case. This case, with forged 2014T-6 aluminum bearing caps, is a full 20 pounds lighter than the Strange nodular iron unit yet has greater tensile strength than a standard Ford 9" case.
9'' Iron Case
Chromemoly bearing caps retained by socket head cap screws that exceed aircraft Grade 8 specifications. Adjuster nuts are steel, and the pinion pilot bearing has been reinforced with superior D-4512 nodular and additional material. Bearing bores and reinforcing ribs are cast with additional D-4512 in critical areas; ribs were also carefully designed to further enhance rigidity. Machined by the same company that SVO Ford chose to manufacture all its 9'' cases: Strange Engineering. Nodular cases are nearly indestructible so they're recommended for any vehicle that accepts a 9'' housing and 9'' gear set.
