Annular flow boosters are the reason this carburetor drives the way it does. Instead of a down-leg booster dumping raw fuel into the venturi, eight equally spaced orifices meter it in, which cleans up the flat spot most four-barrels have just off idle and sharpens throttle response through the midrange. There are no power valves to blow out on a backfire, and metering rods and springs can be swapped without pulling the carb or draining fuel.
