Intake gaskets on a small-block Chevy do two jobs at once: seal the ports and seal the water crossovers. Composite at 0.06 in. gives enough crush to take up minor deck variation without squeezing into the runner. Multi-piece means the port sections and end seals install independently, which is easier to get right than fighting a one-piece set into place.
