Each pair covers one engine, so a single pack services 50 big blocks, which is how engine shops, race teams and dealers buy a gasket they replace constantly. The steel core design is the reason to stock it: rubber molded over a rigid steel frame holds its shape when the valve cover is pulled and reinstalled, instead of tearing or taking a permanent set the way a cork and rubber composite gasket does.
