Race ignition systems demand a coil that can keep up with a long spark duration at high rpm without breaking down. The HVC-2 uses an iron U-core with a segmented bobbin to distribute voltage more evenly, and the bobbin material holds its dielectric strength at the temperatures found in a race engine bay. It is built to run alongside a 7, 8 or 10 Series ignition control rather than as a stand-alone street coil.
