When an ignition control is triggered by a magnetic pickup rather than by points or a module, many tachometers read erratically or not at all off the tach output terminal. This adapter conditions that signal so the gauge reads correctly. It also handles current-triggered tachometers, which are wired in series with the ignition switch.
