- The factory Honda automatic transmission clutch plates are, by design, relatively small, which is a limiting factor in torque capacity. In order to increase the torque capability of these plates, TCI partnered with Alto and the results are all new Red Eagle clutches that withstand higher temperatures than any other clutch available. Red Eagle clutches are designed with a softer, more resilient base paper that results in less wear against the opposing steel plates. They are then saturated in a phenolic resin and undergo a second saturation in a silicate, which imparts high heat resistance to the friction paper. Couple these terrific clutches with TCI's Kolene treated steels and you're got a winning combination. The salt bath nitriding process on these steels provides a surface treatment that enhances wear resistance and fatigue resistance up to 500%. In short, the Red Eagle clutch/Kolene steel combination will shorten clutch lock-up time, reduce heat due to slip, increase fatigue resistance; bolstering your transmission against the increased torque of your modified Honda power plant.Features
