FTI has taken the GM Powerglide and Turbohydramatic designs and enhanced them; their Mud Race Powerglide is designed for 4x4s and features 7 reverse clutches, 8 direct clutches, 250 pounds of line pressure and a ProMud trans brake that eliminates the need to activate for reverse. They even offer a one-speed version with 8 pounds less rotating mass. Their Pro Series Powerglide features redesigned valve bodies and spiral springs for extra power, including versions that are capable of handling up to 3000 horsepower.

Transmissions, components and torque converters from FTI Transmissions are hand-built and assembled by individual builders, with in-house machining that’s all done to exacting tolerances, to be able to stand up to the extreme rigors of competition.
