Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable and Heavy Duty Relay I have purchased premade wiring harnesses in the past and always seem to have a problem with them. I recently decided to make my own wiring harnesses for my accessories such as fog lights, air horns, HID lights, 12V power accessory, etc. Coupled with SXL wiring, I never had a problem with this relay. I have two relays placed near my fender and they never give a problem whereas the cheapo ones that I had before would always corrode due to location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality and great value I use these all the time for off-road projects for cooling fans bs fuel pumps. I used 8 of the now and I am impressed. The workmanship is above standard and the price is too low to ignore.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fair but there are much better First of the post office lost my package and Jegs was great about it and did send me another one via FEDEX.. Got the relay and it is incredibly hard to connect to the connector. Connectors look slightly bent but i did manage to get it connected. Probably wont come apart without a fight though. This is not all 12 gauge wire like the instructions say. Ground and switch wire are much smaller ..seems like a terrible design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice Casing... Terrible Connectors. I purchased 2 of these (although I only needed one) at first the look and feel of the casing is nice high quality plastic and the rubber seals too. The major flaw with these is the connectors, as I carefully squeezed the relay together it feels like the prongs have located nicely inside the connectors and the unit closes up around the watertight seal. I then test the circuit and the relay doesn't work... I separate the unit and come to find that 3 of the female connectors have been completely mangled, I then open the second relay (and this is why I purchased 2 in the event that quality control is not up to par) I carefully inspect the housing and each connector inside the second unit and it then becomes apparent why this failure occurred. Firstly the cut outs where the female connectors are located are way too wide and this allows them to move so much that when you push the 2 parts together the pins can completely miss the connector or hit the side and destroy the connector completely like what happened to me. I ended up cutting off all the female connectors and replacing them with slightly wider ones that wedged nicely inside the casing with no side-to-side play. At the end of the day my project was successful but not thanks to this relay.

I see my question answered online that this item has 12 gauge wires. I spoke to a phone rep this morning who supposedly looked up the item and reported that it has 14 gauge wires. So which is it? 12 or 14? Are coil 14ga and contact pins 12ga?

    Asked by: AllTheSpecs
    The wiring is 12ga.

Part is identified as 40 amp. What wire size is used on terminals 30, 87, and 87a? 14ga is too small for a 40 amp circuit.

    Asked by: AllTheSpecs
    This is 12 gauge wire.
