JEGS 78692 Cowl Induction Hood gives your Camaro more hood clearance for taller intake and carburetor combinations. In addition, cowl hoods help feed your engine lower temperature air at speed and help eliminate hot exhaust air at idle.
Note: For a complete installation be sure to purchase 555-78582 and 555-78583 hood hinges as well as 555-78592 (quantity of two needed) hood hinge springs.
JEGS 555-78692 2 in. Cowl Induction Hood Fact:
First Camaro with Factory Cowl Induction: Chevrolet introduced the cowl-induction hood on the 1969 Camaro. Despite the fact that many assume the “super scoop” as it was called in Chevrolet’s advertising was standard on the Z/28, it was not. This hood was installed using option code RPO ZL2 and it cost $79 extra on the Z/28 and SS models. The only Camaro's to get the hood as standard equipment in 1969 were the COPO 427 cars and Indy 500 Pace Car replicas. Only 10,026 Camaros were equipped with the cowl induction hood from the factory.

Proper prepping and priming are required during the bodywork process to protect the metal surface.

Performance Benefits & Key Features

These factory correct GM replacement hoods are ready to bolt into place, but do not include hinges or latch hardware. The team at JEGS does a rigorous QC check on each hood before packaging. Small dings, surface scratches, swirls and other minor defects aren’t considered damage, and will be worked out during sanding, priming and prep work. For a factory correct look, hoods come complete with power bulges, non-functional or functional cowl induction scoop and other details.

Please note that the EDP coating is protective and shouldn’t serve as a primer for paint. For adhesion of primer, it will be necessary to prep the surface by cleaning with wax/grease remover, then sanding with 320/400 grit sandpaper or maroon scuff pad, roughing up the surface. It’s advisable to use an epoxy primer for best results.
