In high performance engines, a conventional PCV valve for crankcase ventilation might not be enough to prevent gases from accumulating inside the engine. The optimum situation would be a partial vacuum in the crankcase, helping to reduce wear, enhance performance and stretch the life of the engine. A partial vacuum in the crankcase ensures that oil stays where it belongs and circulates through the engine properly, from the crank and bearings all the way up to the valve train and rockers.

Why is a crankcase evacuation system important for your engine? Combustion naturally has byproducts like water vapor, half-burned hydrocarbons, acids and gases that can build up inside the crankcase. Too much pressure from these gases can lead to poor seals around the piston rings, with increased blowby, poor lubrication along the cylinder walls (which speeds up engine wear) and contaminated oil.
These problems can be especially acute in humid environments, where moisture and vapor in the crankcase can build up quickly. In addition, inadequate crankcase ventilation and excess internal pressure can cause gaskets to fail, leading to leaks around valve covers, the oil pan or rear main seal.
