This hose carries crankcase vapor from the PCV valve to the intake manifold so it gets burned instead of vented. The molded elbows are the weak point: they dry out and crack, and the resulting vacuum leak shows up as a rough idle or a lean code well before the split is visible. Clamps come with the hose.
