The Spyder Auto Group is a California-based automotive parts and accessories provider that has been serving vehicle owners nationwide for over a decade. While the brand boasts an extensive product range, its main offerings are headlights, tail lights, and fog lights.

Spyder makes lights that meet or exceed original equipment (OE) standards, meaning they're durable, long-lasting, and incredibly bright. What's more, they fit perfectly and are easy to install.

But that's not all; you'll also enjoy robust standard warranties and detailed installation guides for most products.

Are Spyder lights right for you? Probably, but if you're still unsure, the below guide shines a spotlight on the brand and its offerings so you have all the details to shop with confidence.

Quick Feature & Specification Overview

First, we'll dive into the key features and specs that set Spyder lights apart from their rivals. From adherence to international standards to innovative technology, here's an overview of what Spyder brings to the table:

  • Meets or Exceeds OE Standards: OE refers to the standard specs set by the vehicle's original manufacturer. For drivers, this means Spyder's lights not only offer quality and performance similar to what one would expect from factory-installed lighting but also ensure a perfect fit for your vehicle.
  • Compliant With Federal Laws: Spyder lights adhere to all applicable federal laws, including Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) code 108, which sets benchmarks for vehicle lamps and reflectors. Moreover, they're also ISO-9000 and ISO-9002 certified, meaning they meet international quality standards.
  • Available for Most Makes & Models: From universal LED fog lights to direct-fit tail light replacement options, Spyder boasts a wide range of products for most makes and models. This vast catalog means drivers can find the ideal lighting solution tailored to their specific vehicle, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.
  • Advanced Lighting Technology: Spyder is also at the forefront of lighting innovation, integrating cutting-edge LED technology directly into the housings of its Platinum and Apex Series products. LEDs, or light-emitting diodes, offer many benefits over standard bulbs, such as lower energy consumption, longer lifespan, and enhanced brightness.
  • Robust Standard Warranty: Spyder offers a one-year warranty on their lighting products, assuring they're free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Just note that this warranty doesn't cover damages from improper installation, road hazards, accidents, misuse, alterations, or normal wear and tear. Other terms and conditions may apply.

Installation & Fitment

Spyder crafts its OE products to fit precisely as the original manufacturer designed, eliminating the need for alterations or adjustments.

For most vehicles, installing a new headlight or tail light should be as simple as removing the original housing, disconnecting the wiring harness, and installing the new Spyder unit following these steps in reverse.

Beyond its light housings, Spyder offers a vast array of universal replacement bulbs. Whether you need Halogens for your vintage ride or LED fog lights for your modern half-ton pickup, Spyder has a solution tailored to your vehicle.

Perfect fitment goes beyond just looking good; it plays a key role in functionality and durability. A tight fit ensures peak performance, providing optimal illumination and safety. Additionally, it reduces the chances of vibrations, rattles, or gaps, which could cause premature wear or allow moisture to seep in.

Ultimately, Spyder's dedication to OE standards guarantees drivers a hassle-free installation process and the confidence that their lights will fit seamlessly and operate flawlessly.

Light Output Review

For most drivers, the main metric of interest with automotive lighting is light output quality. After all, the primary purpose of any light, whether a headlight or fog light, is to illuminate the road and its surroundings for maximum safety when driving. In this regard, Spyder Auto does not disappoint.

Spider offers multiple lighting products, including halogens (roughly 700-1,200 lumens per light) and LEDs (5,000-6,000 lumens per light). These are split into three product lines: the Signature Series, Platinum Series, and Apex Series.

Signature lights are Halogen-based, while Platinum boasts high-beam Halogens complimented by low-beam LEDs. For the ultimate in lighting performance, Apex lights offer low- and high-beam LEDs.

But it’s not just about headlight performance; tail light output is also affected by the type of lighting. When equipped with LEDs, tail lights illuminate significantly faster. At 60 mph, drivers behind you will notice your brake lights 240 feet earlier, per AA, a significant distance in an emergency situation.

As for its fog lights, Spider offers regular, LED, and halo LED variations. All are powerful and boast stellar brightness, especially LED models, which feature as many as 32 individual lights.

However, the halo LEDs stand out in particular thanks to integrating a “halo” LED, which doubles as a Daytime Running Light for added visibility.
