The 2024 JEGS Allstars competition, held during the Texas NHRA FallNationals at the Texas Motorplex, brought together the best of the best in NHRA Sportsman racing for one of the most prestigious events of the season. The JEGS Allstars event is a unique competition where top Sportsman drivers from across the country represent their respective NHRA divisions, battling for glory, prize money, and the coveted team championship. This year, the Northeast Division (Division 1) once again proved its dominance, claiming a record ninth overall team title with a thrilling come-from-behind victory.
Division 1 Claims Record Ninth JEGS Allstars Title
In a hard-fought battle, the team from NHRA's Northeast Division captured the 2024 JEGS Allstars title, their ninth overall. Led by standout performances from Steve Szupka (Comp), Tom Stalba Jr. (Super Comp), and Vince Musolino (Top Dragster), the Division 1 team earned 1,400 points, narrowly defeating the Pacific Division (Division 7), who finished with 1,300 points. This win cements Division 1’s legacy in JEGS Allstars history, following their previous wins in 1985, 1989, 1995, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2022.
The Winners
This year’s competition featured thrilling races, upsets, and memorable moments across all categories. Here’s a look at the ten winners who secured their place in the 2024 JEGS Allstars history:
1. Julie Nataas – JEGS Alcohol Dragster
Julie Nataas continued her incredible run by winning the Top Alcohol Dragster class for the fourth consecutive year. Her victory in the final, with a time of 5.313 seconds, secured her position as one of the most dominant drivers in the JEGS Allstars competition.
2. Sean Bellemeur – JEGS Alcohol Funny Car
Fresh off his fourth world title in the Top Alcohol Funny Car class, Sean Bellemeur showcased his skills with a commanding win in the JEGS Allstars final, posting a 5.472-second run.
3. Michael Boehner – JEGS Super Gas
Boehner was sharp at the Tree throughout the event, sealing his win in Super Gas with a near-perfect 9.902-second pass in the final, defeating Division 5’s Jeremy Demers.
4. Michael Brand – JEGS Stock Eliminator
In the Stock Eliminator class, Michael Brand piloted his Cobra Jet Mustang to an 8.811-second win, forcing Division 7’s Jared Jordan into a breakout.
5. Steve Szupka – JEGS Comp Eliminator
Steve Szupka clinched his win in Comp Eliminator with a remarkable .002 reaction time and a 6.915-second run, defeating last year’s winner, Chase Williams.
6. Tom Stalba Jr. – JEGS Super Comp
Tom Stalba added another JEGS Allstars win to his resume, besting Division 4’s Michael Holcombe with an 8.892-second run in Super Comp.
7. Trey Vetter – JEGS Super Stock
Trey Vetter held off Division 1’s Justin Picillo in Super Stock, driving his Camaro to a 9.676-second pass on his 9.67 dial-in.
8. Vince Musolino – JEGS Top Dragster
Musolino, the defending world champion in Top Dragster, secured the win after Division 7’s Cody Webber fouled in the final, capping off a stellar season for the Northeast Division.
9. Alan Bush – JEGS Super Street
In Super Street, Alan Bush fulfilled a 35-year quest to win a JEGS Allstars title, driving his Chevy Nova to a 10.927-second victory, overcoming Division 7’s David Keisel, who broke out.
10. Curt Fredrich – JEGS Top Sportsman
In Top Sportsman, Curt Fredrich delivered a masterful performance, posting a dead-on 6.560-second pass to edge out reigning world champion Brandon Miller in what was arguably the closest race of the event.
Division 1: The Team Champions
With standout performances from Szupka, Stalba, and Musolino, Division 1 made an incredible comeback to capture the overall team title. At one point, Division 7 held a 400-point lead, but Division 1’s dominant final-round performances propelled them to victory, marking their ninth JEGS Allstars championship. The entire team will return next year to defend their title at the 2025 JEGS Allstars event.
A Look Ahead
As the JEGS Allstars event continues to showcase the talent and skill of NHRA Sportsman racers, the competition only grows fiercer. With over $125,000 in prize money up for grabs, including a $20,000 bonus split among the winning team, the stakes are high for drivers from all over the country. The 2024 event has set the bar even higher, and the stage is set for another thrilling showdown in 2025 at the Texas Motorplex.
