Edelbrock is a renowned brand that provides a wide array of performance parts. The brand name first appeared in 1938, and since then, Edelbrock is one of the best-known American aftermarket component manufacturers, with headquarters in Mississippi. You may have heard about their carburetors, intake manifolds, EFI systems, etc. Did you know that Edelbrock also makes a fine array of crate engines? Let us tell you a bit about Edelbrock crate engines.

Edelbrock Crate Engine Specs & Power

Edelbrock produces crate engines for General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler Group products. So, if you’ve got a Chevy, Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, or Ford vehicle, there’s bound to be a suitable Edelbrock crate engine. Of course, if you want to mix it up, you can also do that. Firstly, let’s talk a bit about the specs and power of Edelbrock engines.

Edelbrock offers a range of engines that can produce 300 to 750 horsepower. So, if you’ve got a horsepower figure in mind, you can easily use their website selector tool and find out which engine supports your horsepower requirements. However, we’d recommend identifying your vehicle's best engine (or choice of engines) and working from there. Installing the Edelbrock crate engine won’t need extensive and unnecessary modifications.

Edelbrock engines are in carbureted or electronic fuel injection (EFI) flavors. They also offer supercharged and big-block options. All engines are rated to run on 91-93 octane pump gas. In the case of EFI engines, Edelbrock says that Bluetooth connectivity is available, allowing you to monitor engine parameters easily via your phone or tablet. The brand proudly says that you don’t need a laptop to do tuning, thanks to the special E-Tuner 4 software and compact self-learning ECU.

Further points of note are that Edelbrock crate engines are assembled with all-new parts and carry a two-year unlimited mileage warranty. Furthermore, the manufacturer says the crate engines are only run-in or dynoed if you opt for their optional dyno service. Hence, you must perform a run-in after installation.

Are Edelbrock Engines Worth It?

Prime reasons to buy an Edelbrock crate engine include the all-new nature of the engine, the fact that they are available for a wide variety of vehicles, and that they can be easily tuned after running-in. Overall, Edelbrock crate engines have an excellent reputation for producing reliable power when used as intended. Of course, attempting to modify the engine beyond manufacturer parameters or not having the correct supporting ancillaries (such as relevant cooling system upgrades) can result in malfunctions. But Edelbrock engines can provide years of excellent performance when used as intended and supported by adequately matched ancillaries.
