High Performance Torque Converters
Stock torque converters are fine for unmodified vehicles, but they can only hold so much power. JEGS offers a variety of high-performance torque converters that can handle more horsepower and torque than its stock counterparts.
FTI, Hughes, B&M, and more offer converters that are specifically designed for your application whether it be a street car, drag car, circle track car, or marine application.

The OEM torque converter that your vehicle came with from the factory was designed to handle the power and torque of a factory-spec engine. That's not always going to work out when you've modified your vehicle to deliver more horsepower, and JEGS is proud to announce that we carry a full line of high performance torque converters from brands like FTI, Hughes Performance, B&M, Torque Converters of Texas and Yank Performance Converters
Torque converters are designed to allow the vehicle to continue running while stopped (either with the transmission in Park or in gear with a foot on the brake) without stalling. They transmit torque to the transmission via a system of vanes or blades that work as a fluid coupling, actually multiplying the torque that comes from the engine
While the torque converter will usually last through the entire life cycle of the vehicle, they have still been known to fail. Overheating, excess slip and vibration, poor alignment and contaminated ATF can all lead to torque converter problems. These precision designs can also sometimes benefit from a cleaning to remove any debris, shellac or contamination. Removing a torque converter for cleaning is a big job, though; requiring special tools, this is something where professional service is usually advisable
Upgrading your torque converter is advisable for drag racing applications, extensive towing, mud bogging or any situation that involves a lot of horsepower and torque and a lot of rough use. Browse our selection of high performance torque converters for Ford, Chevrolet and Mopar vehicles, and as always, be sure of your vehicle's year/make/model/trim level, engine size and transmission to ensure you're getting the right converter for your car or truck. We're sure you'll find the right one at JEGS, and at a price you can afford.
