Car Horns and Truck Horns

When someone on the highway starts to move into your lane, not knowing you are there, a horn helps to let them know they are about to hit you and hopefully prevent an accident from happening. If a pedestrian, cyclist, or even an animal doesn't see you, beeping a horn helps let them know to watch out as you approach.

Adding unique or custom car horns (including truck and car air horns) to your vehicle allows you to turn heads and stand out from others with a distinctive sound at the push of a button. Options can include musical speaker horns and air horns, which have pre-programmed songs, an antique or old-sounding "OOOGA" horn, and much more.

Truck and car horns are designed to warn other drivers as well as pedestrians, bicyclists, and even animals of the driver's presence or impending danger. They also help prevent accidents and injury in many different situations.

Most electric truck horns (and car horns) work by pushing a momentary button or switch on the steering wheel. System voltage connects to one side of the switch. When the button is pressed, voltage bridges to the other connection on the switch and continues to the horn, which is grounded to the frame (connected to the negative terminal on the battery), completing the circuit and causing the horn to make an audible "honking" sound. Air horns function similarly, with an electric compressor activating when the horn button is depressed, blowing air through the horns to make noise.

There are many different locations and ways on how to mount train or air horns for pickup trucks. Some choose mounting the truck air horns on the roof. Others mount air truck horns under the hood (on the fender well or firewall area), behind the front grill, in the bed, or on the frame under the bed, depending on the space available. Keep in mind that when driving in rain or washing your vehicle, the horns will need to be covered to prevent water from getting inside components, especially if the horns are facing forward and directly exposed to water. One way to help prevent water intrusion is to point the horns backwards and at a slight down angle. Regardless of where the train or air horns are placed, they will be super loud, making their location not important.
