Hub Centric Rings, Spacers & Accessories

Hub centric rings help perfectly center the wheels on the vehicle hubs. This eliminates vibration issues due to off-center wheels on the vehicle hubs.

Having hub centric rings between your aftermarket or custom wheels and the vehicle hubs makes driving safer. The hub centric rings evenly spread the wheel load around the vehicle hub and take less load off of the lug studs. It also reduces the chances of damage to wheel bearings from off-centered wheels.

A hub centric ring is a plastic or metal (for example, aluminum) adapter between the wheel bore and the vehicle center hub. The purpose of hub centric rings is to perfectly center the wheel to the vehicle hub and fill the gap between the two. This prevents vibrations at higher speeds and helps to spread the load evenly around the wheel, putting less stress on the wheel studs and bearings.

Two measurements are required to determine the hub centric ring size you need. The first is the wheel bore diameter. This is the measurement of the center hole of the wheel from the furthest point of the circular hole across to the opposite side. The second measurement is the vehicle hub diameter. This is measured in a similar way to the wheel bore. The measurement starts on the edge of one side of the hub across to the opposite side of the hub. With these two measurements, a part number can be matched up from a list of hub centric ring sizes that will perfectly fill the gap between the vehicle hub and the wheel bore. If your wheel center bore size is smaller than your vehicle hub size, the wheels are incompatible and must not be used. Hub centric rings for wheel spacers are when using wheel spacers to provide proper wheel-to-hub alignment.

The first step in installing wheel hub centric rings is to safely raise your vehicle in the air high enough to allow the removal of the wheels and tires. Next, remove the wheel/tire by unscrewing the lug nuts. Then use an emery cloth to clean any corrosion or contaminants from the inside of the wheel center bore in which the hub centric ring will seat. The hub centric ring can then be evenly seated into the wheel bore. The last step is to reinstall the wheel/tire with the lug nuts to the proper torque and lower the vehicle back to the ground. The project is then complete.

If your wheel bore is larger than your vehicle hub diameter due to swapping factory wheels for aftermarket or custom wheels (for example, a Fuel Wheel), you need hub centric rings. Otherwise, the wheels will not be perfectly centered on the hubs. This will cause vibration problems at higher speeds. It will also put more load and stress on the wheel studs and bearings from the wheels being slightly off-center.

If you have a wheel vibration with your vehicle, which has wheels with a larger center bore than the hub diameter, adding hub centric rings should help or eliminate the vibration. Wheel and tire balance is also critical, so have them checked to confirm they are not the cause of vibration.
