Cars can be strapped to trailers using tie downs and mounting rings. It is always recommended to tie down all four corners of your vehicle with crisscrossed straps. Where the tie down straps are routed is very important as well. Since the suspension and chassis can move independently, it is recommended to tie both the rear end and the rear chassis (as well as the front chassis) to help control bounce and wear and tear on shocks during travel on bumpy roads. It is also good practice to check the vehicle every hour or two during trips and make adjustments to keep your trailer and vehicle safe.

Four anchor mounts need to be installed to secure a car to a trailer floor properly. Surface mount rings are mounted directly to the floor with a reinforcement plate added underneath. The floor is sandwiched between the reinforcement and the mount. However, surface mount rings do stick up from the floor, which can create a tripping hazard for you or an obstacle for your vehicle. Flush-mounted anchors require cutting holes and adding reinforcement plates underneath to properly secure and reinforce them to the floor. Ratchet tie-down kits, which include trailer ratchet straps and axle straps, make great products to secure your vehicle to the trailer anchors.
