Rod ends allow you to adjust your chassis and suspension components, such as a ladder bar suspension, steering linkage, or clutch and throttle linkage. Jam nuts lock in the adjustment after it has been set.

A rod end (also known as a heim joint) is a component that has a threaded rod on one end (either male or female) and a mounting point for a bolt, stud, or bar on the other end. The rod end mounting point (hole) can be solid or include a swivel and bearing to allow movement. The purpose of a rod end is to allow adjustment for suspension, steering, or linkage (such as throttle, clutch, brake) components in automotive applications that require adjustable linkage. Steel, aluminum, and stainless steel rod ends are available in female and male thread as well.

Jam nuts are designed to thread onto steering, linkage, and suspension rod ends or the threads going into a rod end. They are tightened against the rod end or component the rod end is threaded into after adjustment to prevent the components from loosening. They are thinner in height than a standard nut (approximately half the in size) to increase usable thread and allow more adjustment.
