FAQ
How do I know what flywheel I need?
- There are several factors that determin which flywheel you need. Refer to your vehicle's specifications or consult with one of our professional technicians to determine the appropriate flywheel for your specific engine and application.
How many teeth does a Small Block Chevy flywheel have?
- The Small Block Chevy flywheel comes in three different tooth counts, 153, 164 & 168 tooth. This particular flywheel, JEGS 555-601256 is a 168-tooth version, providing compatibility with certain 305-350 V8 engines and will accept an 11 in. clutch.
What is the difference between a 168 and 153 tooth flywheel?
- The tooth count refers to the number of teeth on the flywheel's ring gear. The 168-tooth flywheel is larger and usually accepts up to an 11 in. clutch disc and the 153-tooth variant normally accepts a 10 1/2 in. clutch disc. Either can be used but matching components such as starter, clutch size and balance are critical for them to function properly.
