Coil Spring
Designed to compress and extend while you drive over uneven terrain, coil springs help to provide improved ride quality as well as handling and traction. They do this by absorbing a lot of movement from dips and bumps in the road. Coil springs are regulated by shocks or struts to prevent a bouncy ride. Over time from age and use, coil springs can degrade and lose their ability to properly lift the body off of the frame, requiring replacement.
When selecting replacement coil springs, first confirm the year, make, model, and engine of the vehicle as well as any other options that may affect spring rate (for example 2WD vs 4WD/AWD, suspension options, etc.). Next, from the remaining compatible coil spring options, choose the option that fits your needs and budget. For custom suspension applications, measure and confirm the desired ride height as well as the correct length, inside diameter, and spring rate for your application. Don't forget to purchase a coil spring compressor as well as any other components or tools needed to complete coil spring installation.
