10° Design Eliminates Retainer Extrusion Problems
Engineered to work with Manley 10° Retainers, these heat-treated 10° valve locks use the best steel alloy, are thicker than competitor locks, and have black oxide coating. A favorite among drag racing engine builders, Manley 10° Steel Valve Locks are strong, reliable & durable. Manley supports both conventional and Bead Loc groove systems with an extensive lineup of premium valve locks.
The groove in a valve stem is imperative to proper valve performance. Inferior grooves, unsuitable retainers, or mismatched locks can cause catastrophic failure. Though conventional (or square) grooves are very popular, their success depends on precise machining. The groove's surface must be impeccable (i.e., no residual machining marks), and the groove requires an exact .013" radius in the upper corner (too large a radius increases the chance of groove abrasion; too small a radius exposes the groove to sharp fillets). Even perfect conventional grooves, however, are subject to the abuse of substandard components. Enter Bead Loc... Intended to be simple and forgiving, the Bead Loc groove has a .110" full radius, and radius contact points are not at the groove's root. This minimizes vertical movement, especially in the presence of a valve float, to lessen valve erosion for longer service life.
FeaturesMotor Vehicles
WARNING: Motor vehicles contain fuel, oils and fluids, battery posts, terminals and related accessories which contain lead and lead compounds and other chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm. These chemicals are found in vehicles, vehicle parts and accessories, both new and as replacements. When being serviced, these vehicles generate used oil, waste fluids, grease, fumes and particulates, all known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, and reproductive harm.
Tools:
WARNING: Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction activities contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Some examples of these chemicals are: lead from lead-based paints, crystalline silica from bricks and cement and other masonry products, and arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber. Your risk from exposure to these chemicals varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure, work in a well-ventilated area and with approved safety equipment, such as dust masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.
